My Skill Sets
CSS
CSS is the language used to style websites written in HTML. It's good practice to separate the content (HTML) from the presentation (CSS & graphics) as this improves SEO, increases flexibility and reduces bandwidth. I have been creating some of the leanest bespoke CSS this side of the A27 since 2003.
CSS3
Modern web browsers allow you to use CSS3 to create richer user experiences and nicer designs with little added work. I work with clients to ensure that any 'progressive enhancements' I make gracefully degrade to give users of old web browsers a great looking, fully functional website.
Drupal
Drupal is an extremely powerful Content Management System used by many leading sites. I have 3 years of experience in creating themes and building sites from scratch using Drupal. I now solely use the recently released Drupal 7 to provide CMS functionality for larger sites.
HTML
HTML is the bread & butter code that runs webpages. Although used throught the web there is a big difference between good and bad HTML. My HTML is written to comply with modern web standards resulting in lean, well-formatted SEO'd pages leaving CSS to do all the clever stuff.
jQuery
jQuery is the easy to program JavaScript framework that allows interactive behavior on a webpage. From sliding banners, drop-down menus, pop-ups galleries to instant form validation, jQuery makes development of all these animated and interactive elements fast and therefore economical for my clients.
Static Websites
If your site does not require much regular updating it can be faster to use a non-CMS solution. Creating static webpages will provide a faster turnaround and cost less, plus due to my clean HTML and my flexible CSS updating text on a page is a simple and cheap.
WordPress
WordPress is an ideal CMS solution for small-to-medium sites. I have been creating complete WordPress sites for over 6 years and it has won me over with it's easy-to-custom page templating, it's easy-to-use client admin area and it's collection of plugins that make a huge reduction in development time.
